Just checking in after a really, really good weekend of gigs. A Wedding last night which was absolutely rocking from beginning to end (congrats to Cathy & Andrew) and a 70s theme retirement on Friday for Dawne which was another smashing night!!! Dawne took the time to send me some kind words of thanks…

As time goes by more and more brides and grooms to be are planning weddings from locations that are no where near their wedding venues. As crazy as it sounds it’s true!

With the economy the way it is people are having to go further afield to find jobs, and of course these days its a lot easier to hop on a plane and setup home in Australia or America. As I look through my friends list on Facebook I’m often surprised with the amount of old school pals that have emigrated.

Although they have moved away from the area they grew up in, their families and friends remain there and it makes sense for them to still want to get married in that area. This can lead to a few hurdles when planning a wedding from abroad or from a location not near to their “home town”, but these hurdles can be overcome with the use of technology and a can do attitude.

Normally I like to meetup with my clients in person either at the wedding reception venue or another location of their choice, however this can be challenging if they are overseas or elsewhere in the Country. This got me thinking about how to overcome this minor problem and low and behold the answer was staring me right in the face.

I have now had a few Skype meetings using my trusty Mac Book Pro using the built in camera, although I was recently recommended a fantastic HD Webcam that I have used on another laptop with huge success.

My feeling is that the “Skype” meetings will become evermore prevalent as time goes on, as I get older and as Brides and Grooms get younger, but hey don’t get me started on that I’ll save that for another day!

I shouldn’t assume things. I recently put together what I thought was a very good and funny ad, but it didn’t work out that way!

Basically the ad was asking for brides to get in touch with a DJ (me) who is seeking a bride to be, this was supposed to be a spoof of a personals advert. Anyway it turns out not everyone knows what GSOH means, my friend didn’t and neither did my girlfriend, I pulled the advert.

By the way GSOH means good sense of humor, but you knew that right?

Briefly I was in Chester for Lindsay’s 30th birthday on Friday what a fantastic night that was, I also provided mood lighting and venue up-lighting at Rowton Hall in Chester for Julia’s wedding reception. Saturday I was at the Holiday Inn for Tracey & Darren’s Wedding and Sunday I was in Manchester for my second Armenian wedding reception which are fantastic events to DJ at! What an amazing weekend starting with the wedding of Kayleigh and Craig on Friday evening where I provided DJ and Disco services a fantastic night many congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs Jones. Saturday I was up early to set-up mood lighting in the Chester Grosvenor Hotel in the city centre a fabulous five star hotel for the Wedding of Jennifer and Kevin. Ive added some pictures so you can see how the room looked, I had many comments from the staff, guests and the bride and groom who were delighted infact I have a txt on my phone from Kevin the groom who said “it looked amazing and made the day, thank you!”. I will post more about the day as I provided DJ and Disco services as well and will endeavour to add more pictures when I have sorted through them but for now I will leave you with pictures of how the lighting looked in the room, sit back, relax and enjoy the slide-show!
